Welcome to the Stone Ranch Elementary School Foundation

SRF extends a warm welcome to all the new families joining our Stone Ranch community this year and to all returning Trailblazers. I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I'm excited to be serving my second term as President of the Stone Ranch Foundation and looking forward to a fun and successful 2010-2011 school year.

Last year, SRF raised over $52,000 with the help of our families, community partners, and corporate sponsors. With your generous donations, SRF will be funding the following programs for the 2010-2011 school year:

In order to preserve the quality of education our children deserve, SRF is committed to raising the necessary funds for programs like these that have been cut from school budgets. The Stone Ranch Foundation board has been busy planning this year's events and fundraisers. The $1/Day Challenge, Silent Auction, Family Night Out, and Trailblazer Treats are all coming back this year. I'm also excited to share that we are adding Holiday Boutique, Movie Night, Family Game Night, and International Fair to the list. But as you all know, the success of these fundraisers depends on all of us working together and supporting our school. We look forward to your continued support as we make a difference in our children's education.

Sincerely,
Angie Deal
SRF President

Foundation Myth Busters

Myth #1: SRF and PTA are the same organization

The Stone Ranch Foundation and PTA work together to support Stone Ranch Elementary School but are separate legal entities with separate boards and fund different programs. Primarily, the Foundation funds salaries for programs such as a Reading Specialist while the PTA supports programs such as Art Corp and supplies to classrooms. The Foundation also has less restrictions concerning the types of fundraisers it can run and can carryover funds from year to year. Both organizations are dependent on parent’s financial support.

Myth #2: Mello-Roos go directly to our schools

The Mello-Roos paid by residents of 4S Ranch go to pay off the bonds used for the construction of the new schools and other community improvements in our area. These tax dollars do not fund school operation budgets. They do not pay for supplies, programs, teachers or utilities.

Myth #3: The foundation has a membership

Unlike the PTA, the Stone Ranch Foundation has no membership. The Stone Ranch Foundation consists solely of a board of 8 to 13 volunteers who work with teachers, staff and business partners to raise funds to support needed programs at Stone Ranch Elementary.

Myth #4: Taxes pay for my child's education

Taxes pay for a minimum level of education. According to the National Education Association, California’s national ranking is 45th for per student spending for the 2009-10 school year. If we want a high quality level of education for our children, we will have to financially support it by directly giving to the Foundation and PTA.

Without your support, our children will have NO P.E., NO Music, NO Computer Technology, and NO Counselor. If we work together, we can make a difference and create the kind of learning environment we want for our children. Let us do what we can to help preserve the quality of education our children deserve.

Make a donation today in support of our school. Your tax-deductible financial contribution is the most cost-effective way for us to raise the funds that we need to ensure that our children receive enrichment programs that are not covered by the school budget. We appreciate any amount you can donate - $20, $200, or $2,000 – every dollar counts and brings us closer to our goals.
